ketamine FAQs
-
Ketamine is a well-established pharmaceutical medication that has been FDA-approved for use in anesthesia since 1970. In recent decades, it has also been prescribed off-label in mental health and wellness settings, where it has shown meaningful potential to support emotional healing, neurological flexibility, and overall well-being.
Unlike substances such as psilocybin, LSD, or MDMA, ketamine has always remained a legal, regulated medication with a long-standing safety profile in medical use. Today, it is being thoughtfully applied in integrative and therapeutic contexts to support individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and certain chronic pain conditions.
At therapeutic doses, ketamine is sometimes described as a “situational psychedelic.” This means the experience is not random—it is shaped by intention, preparation, environment, music, physical comfort, emotional safety, and skilled support. When these elements are intentionally curated, ketamine can open a powerful window for insight, emotional release, and personal transformation.
At Joyful Living Health, I offer Conscious Ketamine-Assisted Coaching® within a safe, supportive, and purpose-driven container. Together, we create an experience designed to help you access inner clarity, expand awareness, and reconnect with your innate capacity for healing and growth.

Your safety is always my highest priority.
Ketamine has been extensively researched and is supported by decades of clinical use. Institutions such as the National Institute of Mental Health have explored its therapeutic applications for a range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, fibromyalgia, and chronic pain.
Before participating in Conscious Ketamine-Assisted Coaching®, every client must complete a comprehensive medical evaluation with a licensed prescribing medical professional, either in person or via telemedicine. This screening ensures ketamine is appropriate for you and helps identify any potential risks. A prescription is required prior to any ketamine experience.
Ketamine is generally well tolerated. Temporary side effects may include dizziness, nausea, headache, changes in coordination, anxiety, blurred vision, or a sensation of physical heaviness or dissociation. These effects typically resolve within 2–4 hours.
During in-person retreats, I monitor vital signs using a blood pressure cuff and pulse oximeter. To reduce the risk of nausea, clients are asked to avoid food for four hours prior to their session (water is permitted).
-
Ketamine does have documented abuse potential in certain individuals. For this reason, Conscious Ketamine-Assisted Coaching® is offered only in structured settings and under my direct guidance, or in collaboration with licensed medical providers.
When used responsibly, as prescribed, and with proper screening and support, ketamine can be administered periodically without addiction or long-term harm for individuals who are not at risk for substance misuse. Open communication with your prescribing provider regarding dosage, frequency, and personal history is essential.
Transparency, education, and integrity are foundational to my work, ensuring your experience is both empowering and safe.

Your private retreat experience is designed to meet you exactly where you are.
In-person retreats are available in a private, supportive setting in Scottsdale or Fountain Hills, Arizona. If you are traveling, I am happy to share nearby accommodation recommendations.
Virtual private retreats are also available via secure online connection, allowing you to receive the same level of preparation, guidance, and integration support from the comfort of your own space.
For both in-person and virtual experiences, oral ketamine troches are used. These dissolve under the tongue or along the cheek and do not involve needles.
Dosage is determined by a licensed medical provider based on your physical factors, medical history, and intentions. Effects typically begin within minutes, gradually deepen, and peak for approximately 60–90 minutes, with gentle after-effects following.
The full retreat experience lasts about four hours and includes:
Intentional preparation
Guided ketamine journey
Post-session Integration Coaching
Throughout the process, I hold compassionate, grounded space for whatever arises, honoring your inner healing intelligence as the ultimate guide.
-
The experience does not end when the medicine wears off.
Following your retreat, Integration Coaching Sessions are essential for translating insights into real, lasting change. During this period of heightened neuroplasticity, your brain is especially receptive to new patterns, perspectives, and behaviors.
Integration is where transformation becomes embodied. I support you in making sense of your experience, aligning it with your goals, and weaving insights into daily life so they create meaningful, sustainable shifts.
-
Some individuals experience profound benefits after one or two sessions, while others choose a series of four to six retreats to support deeper transformation. Frequency and pacing are determined collaboratively, based on your goals, responses, and overall journey.
My role is to support you in designing a personalized approach that honors your nervous system, lifestyle, and intentions.
